Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Terms and Conditions

  1. The Ticket price is $5.00 each. Some credit and debit cards are accepted as payment when purchasing tickets online at barriecatchtheace.ca
  2. Ticket orders are not solicited or accepted from persons outside Ontario. The vendor and purchaser of raffle tickets must both be physically present in Ontario at the time the sale takes place.
  3. Tickets may be purchased by individuals 18 years or older and located in the Province of Ontario at the time of purchase.
  4. Weekly Online Tickets are available for sale daily from Thursday 9:01pm until the next Thursday, 3:00pm.
  5. In-person (paper-based) tickets are available from the Barrie Legion Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 12:00pm until 8:00pm and Sundays from 1:30pm until 6:00pm and on Thursday 12:00pm until 5:00pm and on Thursday evenings following the Weekly Draw from 7:30pm until 9:00pm (The Barrie Legion may be closed on statutory holidays.)
  6. Paper-based tickets may also be purchased from designated, volunteer sellers.
  7. Details (name of purchaser, contact information and envelope # selected) of tickets purchased on-line will be printed onto paper of the identical size, stock and weight as tickets used for in-person sales and entered into the draw.
  8. A Weekly Draw is conducted at the Barrie Legion (410 St. Vincent Street, Barrie) at 7:00pm every Thursday beginning Thursday, June 15, 2023 and running 52 consecutive weeks until Thursday June 6, 2024.
  9. One ticket (with minimum required information) drawn each Thursday at 7:00pm.
  10. Tickets, at a minimum, must have a full name (Given & Surname) and a 10 digit phone number.
    Any Ticket drawn that does not include this minimum information can be rejected and a new ticket drawn.
  11. Ticket purchasers are asked to select the number of an envelope and record that number in the allotted space on the ticket. All tickets purchased will be kept in a container and secured when sales are complete; then transferred to a rolling drum for the draw.
  12. The designated member in charge will choose the lowest numbered envelope available in the event of the following circumstances:
    a. The ticket holder did not indicate an envelope number on the stub.
    b. An envelope number is not available as it was previously drawn.
    c. Number chosen is not clearly legible and ticket holder cannot be contacted for verification.
  13. Catch the Ace is a progressive draw. The weekly winning ticket is paid 20% of total weekly sales, plus the chance at the progressive pot. The progressive pot is the cumulative total of 30% of each week of sales up to and including the week when the Ace of Spades is selected.
  14. A standard deck of 52 playing cards shall be sealed in individual, identical opaque envelopes and numbered 1 through 52. Envelopes will be stored in a locked cupboard on public display.
  15. Once the Ace of Spades has been chosen, the event and licence are concluded. The remaining cards for that draw will be kept then destroyed 30 days later.
  16. If winner of ticket is not present, they will be called and arrangements will be made for payment. Winnings will be paid by cheque.
  17. All draws will be video recorded to ensure raffle integrity. This includes the drawing of the ticket, selection of the envelope, opening the envelope and revealing the card.
  18. The Barrie Legion Executive and Members of the Catch the Ace Committee cannot purchase tickets for this Lottery.
